ABOUT
Amirthalingam Dhileepan
My name is Amirthalingam Dhileepan, and I am a Sri Lankan migrant, community leader, and refugee advocate. I am married and have a five-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son. I started my community work while still in school in Sri Lanka and was honored with the President's Award in Scouting, the highest recognition in Scouting.
Since arriving in Australia in 2005, I have been involved with multiple local not-for-profit organisations to shape our community. My participation in the Cardinia Shire Council Leadership Program has equipped me with valuable insights into local governance and community leadership. Additionally, as a volunteer of the Cardinia Shire Council Multicultural Advisory Group and a board member of the Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre (SMRC), I have firsthand experience working collaboratively to address the diverse needs of our community.
My governance experience provides a solid foundation for my community work, guiding my efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all aspects of council decision-making
